Ripple effect of Hezbollah-Israel prisoner swap - 24 Jul 08

Back

There have been contrasting reactions to last week's prisoner swap between Israel and Hezbollah.

While there have been celebrations in parts of Lebanon, in Israel, the deal has raised questions about the price it has to pay to bring home its soldiers - dead or alive.

This has now led to the appointment of a special committee for future negotiations on prisoners exchange.

Al Jazeera's David Chater reports from Jerusalem.

ib4lyf,
The girl wasn't shot. You don't have the facts. What's your source of information?

What was Samir Kuntar doing in Israel in the first place? Taking a vacation? Get serious. Why was the girl with him on the beach? Because he took her from her home. He kidnapped her. When he was knew he was going to be captured, he killed her.

I don't support Israel, but this guy is no hero. He's a baby killer. Don't make him into a hero.

FrankCoffman : samir was on a mission in israel to kidnap Israeli soldiers to exchange them with Palistinians prisoners coz it was the only way to get back the prisoners , all his friends were killed samir was the only surviver but he was shot in his arm then he hided somewhere and found the girl and the father he took them with him to get out the girl was shot by the israelis then samir was captured anyways , Israel killed 1000's of Arab children no one talks about them check out Qana massacre

lb4yl,
Thanks for your reply. I know about the Israeli bombing massacres at Qana in 1996 and again in 2006. Horrible. I don't support Israel's policies.

As for Samir Kuntar, thanks for your explanation, but I'm not sure it's entirely correct. According to Wikipedia, he had been training from age 14 (before Isreael invaded Lebanon) to raid into Israel. I think he killed the little girl. That wasn't his original plan, but he did kill her.

Where are you getting your information about him?

lb4lyf,
According to Wikipedia, "eyewitnesses said he [Samir Kuntar] smashed the head of 4 year-old Einat on beach rocks and crushed her skull with the butt of his rifle."

That's the same story I've read elsewhere. Samir Kuntar kidnapped the girl and the girl's father from their apartment. When Kuntar knew that he was going to be captured, he shot the father in the back. Then, he crushed the girl's skull.
He killed two defenseless people. Does that sound like a hero to you?

FrankCoff.DoNotBelieve erything u see online.ESpecaily Wiki,any1 canWrite there, even an israeli loyalist.Think about it.Remember what Israel has done, wat would happen if Israel told da world it killed a lil girl? Also,Samir was very careful with what he did,for U know he could hav commitedSuicide, but he didn't,because he would have been detested upon all the lebanese,so why would he kill a lil girl?

Wow, I click on this video and look who I find. You know what makes me cringe every time I see your name? Its the fact that you constantly pass judgement on others but constantly claim the higher moral ground, and you negate what you say by calling other ppl "assholes", etc. Hmmm, is that neighborly? You are the most pretentious and condescending person I have ever seen online, and those videos of yours... while they are entertaining, are not the jewels you make them out to be.
FrankCoffman (November 6, 2008 at 10:33 pm)
phoenixheffa,
Actually, YOU are doing what you accuse me of: YOU "pass judgments" and act condescending! YOU made a personal attack on me, instead of dealing with what I wrote.

You lied. I didn't call anyone an "asshole" here, despite the nasty attacks on me. I posted factual arguments here. I show respect for people who act respectfully.

You insult me, instead of answering my points. You don't have anything worthwhile to say, so you just trash me with lies. You described yourself!
FrankCoffman (November 6, 2008 at 10:50 pm)
phoenixheffa,
You misrepresented and ignored what I wrote. YOU (not me) are the one who "negates" with personal attacks. Your comments are nothing but personal attacks!

You having nothing to say about what I actually wrote here. YOU are the one who isn't "neighborly." You're a mudslinger. From your false statements, you don't seem to have read what I wrote!

As for my videos, I doubt that you've watched them. I never called them "jewels." You lied.
"Pretentious"? Look in a mirror, pal!

In case you havent relized israel never takes responsiblity for their actions it alway an excident or mistake and sometime they just flat out deny it no matter the evidence because they know they are able to get away with it. For example Gana both 1996 and 2006 the bombing of the U N base
