I'm not sure where you're coming from, but I spent my childhood on Makua beach, and my grandfather lived there. The government removed him and many others from that area in the mid 1990's, threatening to bulldoze their tents if they didn't leave. This government is so concerned about Hawaiians living on the beach, but they don't bat their eyes with the military's complete desecration and bombing of Makua Valley; another place from which Hawaiians were evicted over 50 years ago.

Let me just say: Hahaaahaahhaahaaahhaahaa!!! It was MILITIA not US military and that was the CONTINENTAL ARMY, there WAS not US army! Get YOUR facts straight for once! It was the MILITIA who freed the would soon to be USA!
Also I would never join the marines, they are nothing but machines and murderers now. Even 60 years ago I would not. I still prefer the ARMY. The ARMY kicks ass on your Marines ANY day of the week and have not commited the attrocities the marines have. GO ARMY!

AND, they do a lot of stupid shit too. My father was a U.S. Marine for 25 years, and has never done what you "assume" the Marine Corps does. If you have never served in the military or have had family in the military, you shouldn't speak at all. ALL OF YOU, should just be happy that you live in a democratic country where you have the freedoms of which not that many countries have.

AND another thing: the U.S. Army (Continental Army) was formed in June 14, 1775, the Marine Corps (Continental Marines) was formed November 10, 1775. Those ARE the birthdates of each branch according to today, and both of which fought in the AMERICAN Revolutionary War. Yes, Militiamen did serve in the war, BUT they served in the war for a rightful cause... which of course they fought for this soil.

Then you are a hypocrite because in the last comment you mentioned that, "the military is nothing more than a bunch of lying whores and will continue to be." How can you say you like a military branch, when you've stated the above? PLUS, general George Washington lead the COLONIAL ARMY (of the 13 original colonies) against the British regular army in combat which freed this nation. It WASN'T a militia. Let me tell you something, in Iraq, your precious Army, shot a donkey just for fun.

We have NO control over our government. I agree with Gizzy. This nation is not ran "by the people, for the people, and of the people," anymore. It's the ELECTED officials. THEY are "the PEOPLE" and have been for awhile now.
