I have to agree with you that the 'hatred' that I (as a Haitian) am supposed to have for you (as a Dominican)was something that I was taught (more like explained) when I arrived in Haiti...but, I never saw a reason for it. After doing a little research, I've learned that at one point Haiti occupied the DR and many Haitians are angry to see that Dominicans are doing so much better than them now...so I see why they would conspire to take over...but, I think we would better off as allies.

I lived in both countries and count many Hatians and Dominicans as friends. But there is a cultural issue, BIG difference. They are different people. By the way I lived in Port-Au-Prince and Santiago. 5-years total. I lived on Delmas 32 in 2004.

First and foremost, I do agree with you that Haitians are responsible for thier own mess. BUT, I wouldn't be so quick to say that the DR is the most hostpitable neighbor that Haiti could have. It is true that there are many Haitians in the DR, that are very hostile toward Dominicans...but I believe that the animosity is mutual...

Then why are we Dominicans expected to 1)put up with Haitian hatred if most Haitians here in the DR cross the border, live and work on their own will, and WITHOUT all the crap they would get in other places? and 2)put up with these hatemongers on YouTube, generalizing on Dominicans for the ill-conceived comments of a few idiots?. There IS a Haitian agenda to overun this side of the island, and we are expected be complacient about it? You would not want this in your own land, would you?

You don't think you're a little paranoid? 1) As I said b4, the hatred is mutual.(Unfortunately) There are many Dominicans who've crossed the border into Haiti as well...and Haitians absolutely love them (more so than their fellow Haitians). 2) I, personally, do not hate Dominicans, and have nothing hateful to say about them. Anyone who does speak hatefully about you or Dominicans, is simply ignorant of the facts...and no one in Haiti is walking around conspiring to take over the DR...trust me.

Paranaoid? Nah, worried? Yes, there are reasons to be. I think you are a little naive, considering all that is going on. There are also many Haitians -tons of them probably- who are very comfortable here. At the same time, you are also a beautiful execption to the rule I've seen around here.

Sypha, failed to notice you mentioned "the hatred is mutual". In fact, if there was REAL, deep hatred on the DR side, howcome millions of Haitians actually live here? Likewise, fewer Dominicans live in Haiti and, are they been dragged and beaten in the streets? Let's not generalize. Mutual prejudices, baggage from our tumultous common history, perhaps. I guess some people WANT us to hate each other. Yes, there is an agenda.

What the hell?

Their mindset ttowntom includes blaming everyone else for their misery. As a Dominican I often see their hateful speech and denials of reality. Here on this side of the border, crime has grown alarmingly and kidnappings are happening, although never at the scale of Haiti's. The difference is that here in the DR people are open to talk and denounce it and demand action from the government. This is a country struggling with a lot of problems, but never at the scale of that failed state next door.
