Jamey Johnson - In Color Lyrics

I said grandpa whats this picture here its all black and white it aint real clear is that you there? He said yeah i was 11 times were tough back in '35 thats me and uncle Joe just tryin to survive a cotton farm in the great depression.

If it looks like we were scared to death like a couple of kids just trying to save each other you should've seen it in color.

Ohh and this one here was taken over seas in the middle of hell in 1943 in the winter time you can almost see my breath that was my tail gunner ole Johnny Magee he was a high school teacher from new Orleans and he had my back right through the day we left.

If it looks like we were scared to death like a couple of kids just trying to save each other you should've seen it in color.

A picture's worth a thousand words but you cant see what those shades of gray keep covered you should've seen it in color

This one is my favorite one. This is me and grandma in the summer sun all dressed up the day we said our vows. You can't tell it here but it was hot that June and that rose was red and her eyes were blue and just look at that smile I was so proud. Thats the story of my life right there in black and white

And if it looks like we were scared to death like a couple of kids just trying to save each other you should've seen it in color.

A pictures worth a thousand words but you cant see what those shades of gray keep covered you should have seen it in color.

You should have seen it in color

Yeah a pictures worth a thousand words but you cant see what those shades of gray keep covered you should have seen it in color.

yea ik personally i think the reason that people thought it was because of the wars is b/c of the lines "like a couple of kids just trying to save eachother you should've seen it in color" and "this one here was takin over seas in the middle of hell in 1943 in the wintertime you can almost see my prayers that was my tailgunner old johnny mcgee he was a highschool teacher from new orleans and he had my back right through the day we left." those 2 things are probably what made them think that.

If you like the sound of this music you should try listening to Dwight Yokam
1. Two doors down
2. The back of your hand
3. The heart that you own..
Classic country sounding music..Dwight has many other songs as well..Laters!

One other note about the song...the chorus "you should have seen it in color" means you needed to be there to get a real sense of what it was really like then.

it's about his grandpa's life. Him and his brother in the great depression, him and he's tailgunner in WWII, and marrying his wife. He's looking thru his granfathers pictures. His grandfather is explaining it to him

does anybody know what this song's really about? is it about him looking at his grandfather's pictures or is it about WWII and vietnam? all the people i've talked to say it's about the wars and not his grandfather's pictures. and after listening to it for about the 100th time outside while smoking a cigarette i've come to think it's about the wars 2 but i'm not sure.
