An example of the portability of Buddhism -- Tibetan Buddhism is a politicalized buddhism, when a ruling class combined with Buddhism, a whole new branch of Buddhism was born, there's a supreme one (Dalai Lama) and a whole range of hirarchy of kings (all sort of dharma kings), and normally politcical power will be assigned according to their ranking, and the notion of reincarnation in buddhism also serve them well to maintain the power grip.

Tibetan certain buddhist practice based on 5 main religious sciences and monks study whole science for around 20 years and earn their way of religious doctoral degree. I cannot perfectly translate that into english but those 5 are -creative arts, -medicine, -philosophy, -somekind of math and astrology and one more I forgot. Basically those Buddhist temples were operated in university way but under more strict order.

he simply said "you can't put reality into the intelligent design box" without backing it up at all.. I would like to ask why you can not..

i think he already mentioned the reason why not: the paradox of cause of the cause of 'the designer of the designer'.

No, you are wrong.
Buddhism does have a cosmology, teachings about Planets, life and worlds outside ours.
Yes, they are not the most basic, and known ones like about ego, but they do exist.

that's your interpretation of religion. what connects all religions though is the creation of a way to find meaning in life. To create a healthy environment for all. That's what is in the message of many of the prophets. it is those preachers that find this essence of truth and healthy society, and changed the world around in this way who have made religion worthwile. i think for instance about tenzin gyatso, the fourteenth dalai lama talking about the way each religion can be of benefit.
