it was in 1938.........they didn't know as much as they know now and obviously if it was built today that wouldn''t have happened because we have much more knowledge then they did

The wind causes the bridge to resonate at its natural frequency. These vibrations build up over time and the bridge experiences simple harmonic motion. This eventually led to its collapse.

Probably a stupid question but if it was a result of sound waves could they have used loud speakers to stabilize it?

seriously tho theoretically I suppose its possible but there are many other factors into play. Its just like how we can theorize what objects will do on a frictionless plane but we will never actually know.

so why is the engeneering teacher walking on the narrow line? it's an 8'' feet bridge on torsional mode twisting due to wind speed.
