no the kicks dont do damage thats not the idea the idea is to get a point by making a pop noise on the others chest guard
Yegonord (November 17, 2008 at 6:18 am)
...I wonder if those little switch kicks do any damage : THEY CAN BUT THEY RARELY DO.
...And I wonder if these people can still punch or is their training solely kicks.
THEIR TRAINING IS PREETY MUCH SOLELY ON KICKS, MOST CAN'T REALLY PUNCH

That's pretty sad.
Becoming an Olympic sport hasn't really helped TKD as a martial art... I daresay it has gone downhill because of it.
Yegonord (November 17, 2008 at 1:15 pm)
as a martial art no, it didn't help one bit, I don't see it as a MA. It did make kicking evolve and I think Olympic style TKD kicking is underestimated and many kicks or way of kicking could be used in KB and MMA. Modern TKD is basically a kicking game...

Yep, like WKF sports Karate is a game of tag.
Martial arts that become sports cease to be martial arts. (with the exception of Judo maybe)
Yegonord (November 18, 2008 at 2:14 pm)
Judo is no exception, they don't teach atemi waza much anymore, not much focus on the ground either. Like TKD today, Judo only focus on techniques that scores points.
